YouTube Partner Program (YPP) – What’s Changed?

Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
Bar for Monetization is Lowered
From 13th June 2023, YouTube has lowered the eligibility criteria for monetization, which is fantastic news for aspiring creators. The new requirements for access and monetization to fan funding features, including channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Thanks, and more, are as follows:
- For Videos: You now need just 500 subscribers, 3 valid public uploads within 90 days, and 3,000 watch hours in the past year. Compared to the previous requirements of 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 watch hours previously.
- For Shorts: You can now qualify for monetization with 3 million valid public Shorts views within 90 days. Compared to 10 million Shorts views previously.
The bar has been lowered, opening up doors for more creators to start earning from their YouTube endeavors. This update lets you focus on creating quality content without the pressure of reaching unreachable milestones.
That's not all!
YouTube is planning to introduce an update to its YouTube Shopping affiliate program, catering to creators who have surpassed 20,000 subscribers. If you're in this category, you can earn competitive commission rates by featuring products from popular brands such as Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Wayfair, etc. It's an excellent opportunity to create engaging content while monetizing your channel in an entirely new way!
Currently, the YPP is available in select countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. But YouTube has ambitious plans to expand and roll out these updated features to all countries.
